Four moves

  1. 01 · Copy

Absolute path, repo-relative path, filename, file:// URL, or Copy for AI.

  2. 02 · New

A folder, or a file from a template, in the folder you already have open.

  3. 03 · Open

Terminal, Cursor, Visual Studio Code, or Xcode — only apps installed on that Mac.

  4. 04 · AI

A prompt built from the paths you selected. PathFerry does not call a model.

A Mac App Store app with a Finder extension. Only paths are passed; file contents are never read. No account, no analytics.

Finder menu missing? Apple does not turn the extension on for you.

FAQ

Does PathFerry read my files or call an AI?

No. Prompts include paths, not file contents. PathFerry does not call any AI API. You paste the prompt into the tool you already use.

What costs money?

Free to download. Copy and Open are free forever; New, AI Actions, and Custom Action unlock with a one-time $9.99 purchase. Prices may vary by region. No subscription. Restore Purchases is on the unlock screen in the app.

Why is PathFerry missing from the right-click menu?

Apple does not turn the Finder extension on. Enable it once. Steps for macOS 14, 15, and 26 are at pathferry.com/enable.

Which apps appear under Open?

Only apps actually installed on that Mac: Terminal, Cursor, Visual Studio Code, Xcode, plus any you add in Settings.

Where do new files go?

In the folder you clicked, or inside the folder you selected. The menu names that folder. Creating a file, or handing a folder to another app, needs that folder granted once.

What does PathFerry store?

Settings, templates, custom actions, and the folders you grant. No account and no analytics. See the Privacy Policy.
